The mission of the Partnership is to preserve, maintain and enhance the water resources of Iron County and especially to address the prevention, reduction and elimination of aquatic invasive species. We will emphasize awareness, education and broadly supported and coordinated projects that utilize technology and cooperation by all stakeholders.

MiCorps AIS Detection Blitz

June 29 - July 12  

Spending time on Michigan's lakes and rivers this summer? Help protect them! The MICorps AIS Detection Blitz is a fun, easy way to help track aquatic invasive species while you're already enjoying the water. Simply snap photos of anything you think may be an aquatic invasive species using IiNaturalist and contributed to the statewide effort!

Join the MI Corps AIS Detection Blitz from June 29- July t2, 2026, Whether you're boalting, paddling, fishing, or simply exploring the water, you can help document Michigan's aquatic species. Just take a quick photo and upload it to iNaturalist!

Grants Available to Mitigate EWM

The ICLSP has limited funds available to lake associations for EWM analysis, treatment and/or management. Grant funds are based on available revenues each year to be awarded in each subsequent year. The Grant application can be accessed here.

THE AQUATIC INVASIVE SPECIES SYMPOSIUM IS GOING VIRTUAL

The June onsite symposium was cancelled to now become an online presentation that you can watch anytime. Stay tuned for the when the virtual symposium goes live.

Learn about Michigan’s inland lakes 

Michigan State University Extension offers once a year the award-winning Introduction to Lakes Online course.This six-week, self-paced introductory class is perfect for anyone looking to deepen their understanding of Michigan’s inland lakes—from lakefront property owners and concerned residents to local leaders and decision-makers. While the 2026 course is now closed, there are links on dozens of related topics along with registration for future updates/announcements.
